Date palm trees have been around for 5,000 years or more. Archaeological evidence showed earlier cultivation of dates some 7,000 years ago in Mehrgarh, western side of modern day Pakistan. It is unclear where dates originally came from, but many believe it’s from Syria, Egypt, or Middle East countries including Saudi Arabia.
